Jake Robinson is an ecologist. His new book, The Nature of Pandemics, will be published in October 2025. In it, he reframes pandemics as ecological issues that require ecological solutions.

Dr Jake Robinson is a microbial and restoration ecologist at Flinders University, South Australia. His research focuses on the environment-microbiome-health nexus and developing innovative strategies to conserve and restore nature. He also works with the UNFCCC on climate change adaptation projects. Jake has published three popular science books: Invisible Friends: How Microbes Shape Our Lives and the World Around Us and Treewilding: Our Past, Present and Future Relationship with Forests, and The Nature of Pandemics: Why Protecting Biodiversity is Key to Human Survival. He also has a new YouTube Channel where you can learn all about the science of biodiversity and human health connections.
