Effie
Effie has recently completed our Pathways Programme and is now studying for her City and Guilds level 1 in Practical Horticulture.

Client gardener Effie attends our London centre. As a single parent, Effie studied to become a teacher to support her family, but her successful career came to a halt when she began to suffer with depression. Effie’s GP suggested she contact Thrive to try something different, get out in the fresh air and to mix with other people.

With the help of Thrive’s Horticultural Therapists, Effie has now been able to reclaim her life. Her life has changed and she’s discovered a natural affinity with nature and an ability to put all life’s pressures to one side and be mindful in gardening.

Effie loves the plants, the camaraderie, and the support she’s found at Thrive and intends to use her gardening knowledge and art to bring pleasure to others.

Effie’s home life has also greatly improved – before she came to Thrive her property was just a house but after coming to Thrive it’s become a home full of plants and art work. Since coming to Thrive Effie’s art and creativity has flourished. Effie is now excited about living, with the new plants and growth reflecting what’s happening for her.
