Two new training courses offering flexible and accessible learning for people wherever they live in the UK will be launched by Thrive in early 2021.

The first is an Introduction to Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) Practice which will be an online blended learning opportunity aimed at beginners.

Held over a week and incorporating live virtual events, the course will examine topics such as the therapeutic role of gardens for health, the skills needed to work in STH, the role of the practitioner and the different models of horticulture as therapy.

This course will be ideal for people thinking about changing careers or STH project volunteers who want to expand their knowledge and understanding.

The second new course is aimed at people looking for help to set up an STH project and draws on Thrive’s 40 years of experience.

Among areas that will be covered will be how to set up and structure an organisation, funding and budget development and how to network with relevant stakeholders.

As well as insights from Thrive’s Training, Education and Consultancy team, there’ll be input into the course from others working in STH.

Both courses offer flexible access to learning materials to fit around work and home life demands, as well as live opportunities to talk to Thrive tutors.

We’ll be unveiling course dates, fees and booking details early next year.
