Client gardeners attending Thrive Birmingham programmes have a host of new plants to work with as a result of a generous donation from an exhibitor at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival.

Hundreds of perennials now have a new home at our Kings Heath Park gardens after they appeared in `The Habit of Living’ show garden in support of Diabetes UK.

The garden was designed by Katherine Hathaway and Karen Tatlow, to raise awareness of the condition, and won a silver gilt medal from RHS judges. Both Karen and Katherine, seen below with Chris Beardshaw, have family experience of people living with diabetes.

The donation of plants was made possible with support from Abbotts Diabetes Care.

`We are very grateful for this kind donation,’ said Alex Bailey, Client & Garden Manager at Thrive Birmingham.

`It’s great that the legacy of this exuberant garden will continue long after the show has finished, as we’ll be using the plants to teach our City & Guilds Practical Horticulture students about plant care and techniques such as propagation.’
