Good active shot
This course provides the practical knowledge, skills and insights required to start a new social and therapeutic horticultural project

Drawing on our considerable experience of setting up our own projects, and assisting other organisations through our consultancy service, this blended course provides the practical knowledge, skills and insights required to start a new social and therapeutic horticultural project and to share the health benefits of therapeutic gardening directly with people who have been touched by disability.

This course explores many of the key areas of consideration for developing an STH project. Although each starting journey will be different some areas are very likely important to all. We hope the course supports you in your project development, it may be that it highlights areas you have not considered, provides good information so you can work through the development of your project or perhaps if you are more progressed on your journey confirms that you are going in the right direction.

Social and Therapeutic Horticulture is a diverse field and so some of the learning content will require you as the learner to contextualise it to your own particular angle or model of STH.

This course is suitable for:

Anyone with an interest in the logistics, legislation and practical concerns associated with setting up a STH project.

What you will learn:

  • The considerations of working within the current STH sector
  • How to approach site selection in relation to a new STH project
  • How to facilitate partnership working and your networking opportunities
  • How to programme STH, specifically in relation to a new STH Project
  • The approach to budgeting within a new STH project
