This course provides an introduction to the key skills set for Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) Practice and considers the fundamental practice approach and role of the practitioner in different practice settings.

This is the recommended first course in our blended learning programme for those new to STH and those wanting to learn more about STH.

This course is suitable for:

Anyone who wants to begin their journey in STH including career changers and volunteers.

  • Key theories on why gardens are therapeutic
  • How gardens and gardening can be utilised as therapy
  • Different models of horticulture as therapy
  • The role of the practitioner

Format

This is a blended course, held over 1 week with flexible access to all learning materials and staggered live event times to accommodate attendees' home and work commitments.

5-10 hours learning time is required for the week including the live events.
