Payroll Giving is a way to donate to Thrive through your pay packet. It’s a really simple and tax effective way to support Thrive on a monthly basis.
Donations are made before your tax is taken out of your pay and this means that your donations receive immediate tax relief.
If you are a 20% tax payer; signing up to a £5 donation only costs you £4 – but Thrive will receive the full £5. Take a look at the table below to see how much different donations might cost you:
It is more efficient for those in the higher tax brackets to donate via Payroll Giving than gift aid, because charities are not able to claim back tax above the basic rate using the gift aid scheme.
It’s really easy!
Step 1: Contact your HR or Payroll department to ask if your company supports Payroll Giving
Step 2: Ask for a donation form (you might need to ask for your employee number too)
Step 3: Fill out the form with any amount that you would like to donate, remember any support that you are able to give is greatly appreciated. Put ‘Thrive (the Society for Horticultural Therapy)’ in your chosen charity box. Our charity number is: 277570
Step 4: Send the form back to your HR/Payroll department
Step 5: Relax knowing your donations are taken care of and that you’re helping hundreds of people access Thrive’s support
We know that sometimes circumstances change; you can stop your payroll giving at any time by contacting your HR/ Payroll department– we completely understand. If you change jobs your donation will stop and we kindly ask you to repeat the steps at your new place of work.
Businesses must sign up with a Payroll Giving Agency in order to process donations through pay-packets. If your company is not in contract with an agency, why not email your HR department/ boss and ask for it to be considered? Let them know that Payroll Giving is a great way to help hit their Corporate Social Responsibility targets and help employees feel like their employer’s care about what they support.
