Gardening Thrive Birmingham
Come and volunteer in our centre in King's Heath Park, Birmingham!

We have a wide range of volunteer roles, from client gardener support to events. We are very lucky to have a passionate team of regular volunteers and so can’t accept applications unless a vacancy is advertised below.

Most roles require references and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Our commitment to you

If you do join us as a volunteer, we ask that you commit to a regular number of hours and days, to be agreed with the staff team. For most roles, this is a full day 9.30am-3.30pm. We then provide all necessary training, and support for your ongoing role. You’ll become part of a friendly team with opportunities to develop your skills for use at home, work or elsewhere.

Community Engagement Volunteers

We're looking for community engagement volunteers to help families and the local community connect with nature in our beautiful garden in Kings Heath Park.

Assisting at community events, volunteers will help us plan and prepare activities, welcome visitors into the garden, and help run nature connection experiences.

Volunteers will need to be able to commit to events once or twice a month (sometimes at weekends).

We welcome people from all backgrounds and aim to offer as much flexibility as we can in the role. Whether you're looking for something fun and meaningful to get involved in or you're looking to gain experience for a career in the environment or conservation sector, we'd love to hear from you.

To apply, please complete our application form.

For more information, please read the volunteer role description.

If you have any questions, get in touch with the Birmingham team on 0121 293 4531 or use our contact form.

Leave the world of work for a rewarding and fun day in our gardens!

We have been running our extremely popular corporate group volunteering days together with our experienced horticultural therapists for a number of years. Our aim is to provide our corporate volunteers with a fun and rewarding day in the fresh air, with the opportunity to work hands-on in one of our beautiful gardens.

With our personal and friendly approach, you learn more about Thrive and see with your own eyes the great work we do with a wide range of people.

During our corporate volunteering days, you get to experience a great team-building opportunity, whilst supporting your local charity and making a positive difference to the lives of people living with disabilities or ill-health. Your team also gets to explore the many benefits of gardening and its effects on wellbeing and mental health.

The standard cost is £500 for up to 10 people or £1000 per day for up to 20 people maximum.

I loved being outdoors and working together, it was amazing seeing the difference we made to help people.

It was great to make a difference, spend time outside and being together as a team.

I enjoyed being outside and doing something practical, which is so different from my day job.
