Tim first came to Thrive in August 2011 on a fixed-term placement after being made redundant from Slough Boroughs Garden Centre where he had worked for 14 years.

After his placement finished, a year went by before Tim decided he missed Thrive too much and wanted to come back as a permanent volunteer.

Tim currently volunteers two days a week. He does tasks such as potting up plants, weeding, pricking out, making hot drinks, and joining clients on their trips to The Vyne National Trust.

His favourite part of Thrive is the social side, as he enjoys talking to the clients gardeners, or simply observing them enjoying conversations with one another.

I like how Thrive encourages you to be yourself

Tim, volunteer

The following is a poem Tim wrote about Thrive:

I floated proudly with the clouds up Thrive's golden drive,

The aura from below made me feel alive.

Passed over rooms of colour green and blue,

What's that aroma is it soup or stew.

Passed little squares of heaven,

Too many to count but more than eleven.

All of a sudden it met my gaze,

A field of veg and flowers.

After a long period of closure due to the pandemic, Tim is pleased to be back and enjoyed spending his birthday at Thrive this year!
