Nature Connection Art Workshops with Ginger Dan

Join artist Danni (Ginger Dan) for a short series of mindful outdoor art workshops exploring nature, creativity and connection through drawing and painting in the garden.

These workshops are designed to work as both:

  • Individual stand-alone sessions
  • A connected three-part journey for those who attend all three

Each session focuses on one stage of the creative process, inspired by how Danni develops their own large-scale murals and illustrations — from first observations, through idea-building, to a finished artwork. Maximum of 10 participants for each session.

Ginger Dan is a Birmingham-based artist working across illustration, mural painting and live observational drawing. Their practice combines street art with traditional drawing, often inspired by people, animals and imagined worlds.

Alongside large-scale public murals, Danni regularly teaches life drawing and sketching sessions, making art accessible, relaxed and welcoming for all abilities. Their workshops focus on observation, self-expression and building confidence rather than technical perfection.

Danni’s work is rooted in the idea that creativity is for everyone and that spending time drawing from nature can deepen our connection to both ourselves and the environment around us.

Observation & the Senses

This session focuses on slow, careful observation. Participants will be guided through simple drawing exercises using plants, textures and spaces in the garden as their subject matter.

We’ll explore:

  • Noticing shape, pattern and movement
  • Using the senses to inform drawing
  • Letting go of “perfect” and focusing on looking

This session stands alone as a calming nature sketching workshop, but also forms the foundation for later sessions.

  • Using colour and mark-making to express feeling
  • How nature can reflect personal stories and moods

  • Composition and decision-making
  • How artists turn research and feeling into final work

Those who attend all three sessions will experience the full creative journey from first seeing, to meaning-making, to a finished piece.
