This is a national charity, established in 1979. We use Social & Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) to make a positive impact for people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable.

We have three fantastic gardens and centres, located in London, Reading and Birmingham. We also offering training in STH from introduction all the way through to diploma level.

Job Title: Personal Assistant (with possible therapeutic horticulture, art and music support)

Hours: 10 hours per week initially may be possible to extend subject to funding and negotiation with a successful candidate

Salary: £13.00 per hour

Location: Morpeth, Northumberland

The main purpose of the role

A kind and warm Personal Assistant is required to support a gentleman with complex needs in his family home. Helping with personal care, cooking, and engaging in appropriate and meaningful activities.

As a Personal Assistant, you would support with daily routines, housework, and meal preparation. An interest in cooking and music therapy and the therapeutic use of art/craft and horticulture is desirable alongside the willingness to undergo further training.

A person-centred approach always and an understanding of autism, and a willingness to learn about deaf blindness and multisensory impairment would be useful.

Deafblind intervener training is planned for the right person.

Accommodation may become available with this job during 2024 for the right person, terms of negotiation.

Course fees will be covered for the right person to participate in the Thrive Courses:

  • Using social and therapeutic horticulture to benefit people with learning disabilities
  • Understanding disability in garden design (blended course)
