Thrive uses gardening to help people regain confidence, build self esteem and motivation, feel better physically and mentally and create new social networks.
Some people come to our projects in Reading and Battersea, London, and we also go out into the community.
Working across Berkshire, Hampshire and South Oxfordshire, Thrive has helped people create community gardening projects in the areas where they live, which improved their mental and physical health, reduced isolation and brought people together in a project called Sow & Grow.
This project has come come to an end after five years of funding from The Big Lottery.
It offered eight-week indoor gardening sessions lasting two hours for people over the age of 50 who are keen to make new friends, improve their general health and wellbeing and learn more about gardening.
A full report on this project will be available shortly.
