I’ve been a Thrive trustee for around a year and I’m really grateful that I get to support the work of such a brilliant charity. I was motivated to become a trustee after considering how I could use my skills to have a greater impact across the charity sector.
My background is in Policy and Public Affairs - I work to effect change in legislation in the social care sector - and I enjoy being able to offer my guidance and perspective to inform Thrive’s objective of ensuring greater access to, and funding for, therapeutic horticulture.
Not only this, but connecting with the other trustees who have a huge array of experience across health and social care, and the third sector, gives me a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow my own skills and knowledge.
As a keen gardener myself, my favourite thing about being a trustee at Thrive is knowing that my role is supporting more people to access green spaces, sow seeds and generally get their hands dirty!

I live in London but have always sought out somewhere to grow, whether that’s a windowsill, allotment or the roof of my boat. Undoubtedly, tending to plants and watching things bloom has been beneficial while living a fast-paced life in the capital.
I hugely admire the work Thrive does to ensure more people can experience the same mental and physical health of gardening as I have, and being a trustee allows me to play a part in making that happen.
