Living through Landscapes is a pioneering project to support people with dementia by transforming outdoor spaces at 30 care settings across the UK.
It is a partnership between Learning through Landscapes, Thrive, Groundwork, Age UK and the University of Kent. The project was made possible thanks to grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
Thrive are responsible for the training components of Living through Landscapes project. This is being delivered through a combination of online learning resources, podcasts and face-to-face courses for care settings taking part in the project.
A wide range of resources have been developed include podcasts, FREE online versions of training and the garden designs will be available to any other setting who would like to take steps to improve the use of their own outside space.
While the project will be of particular value to operational and managerial staff working within dementia care settings, it includes resources for garden designers and will be of interest to anyone who wishes to support those living with dementia to access and engage with outdoor spaces, whether in a care setting's own outdoor space or additional opportunities for engagement in the wider natural environment.
