Spaces are available on Thrive’s Pathways programme which is run from our Main Garden in London’s Battersea Park.
It gives people aged over 18 the chance to garden with our STH practitioner team on a weekly basis for six months.
Feedback from Pathways attendees shows the difference it can make, with people commenting on feeling relaxed and how working with plants is ‘healing’.
One person said: ‘I had a brightness in my eyes, energy was good, [and I] felt alive. I realised when working here in the garden, even though it is public, you just get on with what you are doing as no one is looking at you. I felt at peace.’
Working alongside other client gardeners helps improve team work skills and communication abilities, as well as building confidence. Pathways also offers physical exercise and the opportunity to enjoy nature in the city.
The new skills that are learnt on Pathways often lead to people moving on to our Level 1 City Guilds course in Practical Horticulture.
The first step for anyone interested in joining the programme is to contact Thrive in London. Then a half hour informal visit can be arranged to see the Main Garden and meet our Garden and Client Manager.
