David Domoney gold medal chelsea houseplants
Big congratulations to Thrive Ambassador David Domoney who won gold at the Chelsea Flower Show for an exhibit all about the positives of having houseplants.

It’s not the first time David has wowed RHS judges, but this exhibit was a particularly personal one because it was based on his book My Houseplant Changed My Life.

‘Watching that book come to life as a three-dimensional exhibit filled with houseplants and showing their benefits has been really special,’ said David, who is a big advocate of people having houseplants for wellbeing.

The benefits or indoor gardening are both mental and physical

‘As a species, we are hardwired to be close to nature. Indoor plants have mentally restorative effects, as well as their presence helping to improve air quality and therefore the air that we breathe in our homes. The benefits or indoor gardening are both mental and physical.’

Public reaction to the houseplants display was ‘overwhelming’, said David, especially among young visitors just starting out on their gardening journey.

‘Indoor plants span the generations and it’s something that we can all appreciate and benefit from together,’ said David.
