Enterprising Averill set up a temporary outdoor shop with help from friends Claire (above right) and Joan (above left) offering nearly 300 garden and house plants to passers-by.
After researching her own Covid-19 risk assessment and putting up signs to ensure social distancing, Averill erected several tables with 32 different types of plant for customers to choose from.
The sale in Surrey proved popular, with neighbours and passers-by stopping to chat as well as make purchases.
‘It’s great to hear how plants bring people together and when it helps support Thrive at the same time, it’s a wonderful win-win,’ said Stacey Lewis, Thrive Fundraising Manager. ‘Many thanks to Averill for raising so much for our work.’
