See different types of gifts you can leave in a will, Thrive charity details and examples of wording and support you in writing your will

It's one of those things we never get round to, but creating your will shouldn't be an expensive or time-consuming process. Whether you're updating an existing will or making a new one, it ensures those closest to you are supported, but also offers the opportunity to leave a gift in your will to a cause close to your heart.

Types of gift you can leave in your will

  • Pecuniary

This is a specific amount of money left in your will.

You can ask your solicitor to index-link your donation to make sure it holds its value over time.

  • Rediduary

Commonly left as a percentage, usually the remainder of your estate after payments of taxes, expenses and legacy bequests

  • Specific

A particular item(s) in your will.

Please get in touch with us to make sure that your kind gift can be accepted by Thrive.

The legal bit

We would always suggest seeking legal advice when looking to create or update your will. It's a personal decision as to which solicitor you use but the Law Society website can help you search for qualified solicitors locally.

Before you speaking to a solicitor it's important to make a list of your assets (what you own) and liabilities (what you owe), so the value of you your estate can be easily calculated.

Below are Thrive's full charity registration details that you may need.
