The new introduction to Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) Practice course is Thrive’s latest offering in our new blended learning opportunities programme.

It is an online course that makes the most of our online and live learning to provide an introduction to STH and working within the sector.

This course is an adapted version of our one-day face-to-face course, delivered through our Thrive Learn online learning platform, alongside two sessions delivered over Zoom to try and incorporate the benefits of in-person training whilst we are only able to deliver training online.

This course introduces students to the key skills set for STH practice and will consider the fundamental practice approach and role of the practitioner within different practice settings. Find out about course dates and prices here.

Ideal for beginners

This is the recommended first course in our blended learning programme for those new to STH and those wanting to learn more about it, so is ideal for anyone who is considering a career change, a development of skills, or simply those interested in knowing more about working within STH.

This course also includes a guided tour of the Thrive Reading gardens, offering the opportunity to see some of its key STH elements from the comfort of your own home.

The course is delivered across a week, with the initial content being released on the Monday, live events happening on the Thursday (or following Monday) with the tutor being on hand for any questions, and to offer feedback throughout the week. Access is granted for two weeks if students need some additional time to review the course content.

From here students may then wish to consider the STH Practice course, or any of our extended learning opportunities across Thrive Learn.
