Thrive is a national charity whose mission is to research, educate and promote the use and advantages of gardening for people with a disability.

Thrive's Gardens

Thrive runs two gardens – Trunkwell Gardens, Beech Hill, near Reading, Berkshire, and in Battersea Park, London, SW11.

Our horticultural therapists also work in other garden settings, including The Vyne a National Trust property near Basingstoke and Fulham Palace Gardens in London. We also work in the community, at allotments, village halls and in hospitals. We help 700 people change their lives through gardening each year.

The people we help may be rebuilding their lives after an accident or illness such as a stroke or heart attack; older people who may have arthritis or sight problems and are looking for practical ways to carry on gardening; those living with depression or dementia; people with learning difficulties and teenagers dealing with behavioural challenges.

Most Thrive gardeners are referred by Social Services or come to us through a professional such as their GP. We also welcome people who come to Thrive independently.

Thrive also carries the national databases of 900 projects throughout the UK and we can put you in touch with a project in your area.

Please get in touch if you would like to come to Thrive, or know someone who would.
