Thrive Battersea Garden Project
The Thrive garden project at Battersea, London, is located in Battersea Park and has been helping disabled gardeners for nearly 25 years.
During that time, we are pleased to say that awareness of the life changing benefits of gardening has developed and improved significantly. On the other hand, there has been a sharp increase in the number of people in London’s inner city communities with life impacting disabilities, people that we know we can help at the Thrive Battersea Garden Project.
However, our facilities in Battersea Park have not kept pace with the demands made on us. The gardens need refurbishing and the project’s buildings are now old and no longer fit for purpose. The lack of up to date facilities means that we:
- Can only help around 50 disabled people each year
- Have to limit the range of activities we can offer
- Have difficulty promoting the benefits of our work to influential policy makers and stakeholders
So, to rectify this situation we have some very ambitious plans for the Thrive Battersea Garden Project and we have launched a fundraising campaign to secure the £750,000 needed to transform the project’s facilities.
