The Journey is an uplifting garden for people recovering from a mental illness, particularly depression.
The garden promotes well-being, stimulates the senses and inspires creativity.
The 'mood’ planting starts with dark colours, moving into greys and silver and then pale blues and pinks. You can assess the way a person is feeling by the direction they move in the garden.
The garden also contains companion planting for guidance; for example mint is planted at the start of a row of potatoes.
The plants have a calming effect and a large silver ball water feature means a gentle trickle of water can be heard and is easy and pleasant to touch.
A curved bench compliments the soft circular paved areas of the garden and looks an inviting place to sit and relax. It has been placed on top of a thyme lawn so an aroma is produced when walking to the seating area.
