The Thrive Battersea Garden Project has launched an innovative training programme called Working It Out. This new initiative will help disabled people in London develop the employment and horticulture skills they need to secure a job in London’s parks and green spaces.
Susan Stuart, Garden Manager at the Thrive Battersea Garden Project, comments: “Working It Out’s participants will work with help and support from Thrive for up to two years on work shadowing schemes in London parks, which is a demanding horticulture environment. This will give them hands-on experience, an understanding of the work place and the skill needed to get and hold down a job. In addition, they will have the opportunity to gain an accredited horticulture qualification to help them move on into paid employment.”
This programme has been developed with the help and support of LANTRA and The London Parks and Greenspaces Forum. For more information, contact Susan Stuart on 020 7720 2212.
