Volunteers help make Flower Show Bloom

10/07/2006

Trunkwell Garden Project’s annual flower show was given a helping hand from corporate volunteers from communications company Nortel.

The group helped to tidy beds, refresh the allotment areas and paint the tea rooms before the flower show on 30 June 2006.

On the day around 300 entries were received for the 19 categories leaving the judges a difficult job. Mr Bill Simpson said, “It’s a great to see so many entries but every year the standard gets higher and you end up wanting to give everyone a prize.”

For the winners, special guest Mr John Miller, the High Sheriff of Berkshire, presented the medals.

Visitors to the flower show were entertained by the activities that the Trunkwell staff had prepared and the BBC spent the day filming for the Lifeline appeal to be broadcast later in the year.
