TV gardener Monty Don helps to raise money for Thrive

22/07/2005

Thrive’s loyal supporter Monty Don was the special guest at a recent fundraising dinner in aid of Thrive. The event was kindly hosted by The High Sheriff of Berkshire, Mary Bayliss, at her beautiful private home.

The evening was a huge success, and raised a fantastic £9,300 for Thrive. Around 90 guests enjoyed the stunning surroundings of the High Sheriff’s moated garden, before tucking into a delicious three-course meal.

During the meal, guests were entertained by magician Dave Gemmell, who performed a variety of tricks. After dinner, Monty Don made a moving speech, where he declared that he would be a supporter of Thrive for the rest of his life. A raffle took place, with prizes including a golf day, Monty Don’s book ‘The Complete Gardener’, and dinner for two at a local restaurant.
