Horticultural therapy charity Thrive has launched a 'recycling’ campaign with a difference and it's all in a good cause. People all over the country will be asked to help the disabled by participating in a nationwide plant swap at various events around the country between now and September as part of the Plant a Difference initiative.
Plant swappers are invited to make a small donation which will be used to send boxes worth £35 full of ready-to-plant vegetables, herbs or perennials, directly to the door of a disabled person to help them discover the benefits of gardening for themselves.
Thrive is a national charity set up in 1978 to help those touched by disability to transform their lives through gardening. Thrive uses horticulture therapy to help improve the quality of life for a wide range of people, including those with dementia and mental health issues, as well as people affected by disability following strokes, accidents or a heart attack.
Plant a Difference events include open days at English country homes and gardens, talks by garden designer Marylyn Abbot, interior designer Carole Roberts and of course a day at Thrive's magnificent three acre Victorian walled garden planted and maintained by disabled gardeners.
Further information about the plant swap including a plant swap support pack are available by calling 0118 988 5688 or visiting www.thrive.org.uk.
