Thrive's Battersea Garden

08/09/2010

Thrive has exciting plans for its Garden Project in Battersea Park, London and lots of autumn events on its calendar where people can come and support the charity whilst having fun.

The charity operates from three gardens all situated within Battersea Park – the Herb Garden, the Old English Garden and its main Thrive Garden.

Thrive helps close to 100 people each week at Battersea and also works outside the park at projects in Fulham Palace Gardens and Slade Gardens, Stockwell.

The project is based at Thrive’s main garden in Battersea Park, but unfortunately facilities there are no longer fit for purpose, nor are able to meet the growing demand.

Manager Susan Stuart said: 'Work on a new building which can be used flexibly to accommodate large and small groups will start in November this year.

'This fantastic new building will house new training rooms, offer accessible facilities and a modern orangery to provide growing space. The gardens will also be refurbished.

'Thanks to fundraising we have already raised £345,000 which has enabled Thrive to redevelop the Herb Garden where we now have a new glasshouse and training room.

'However, we still need to raise £170,000 in order to complete this exciting and ambitious build at our main garden.

'As we have to be off site by the end of November we are quite literally selling off the garden from the start of October.

'Please pop in and see if there is anything you’d like and look out for various events, including some in half term, culminating in a grand sale over the weekend of November 13 and 14 where people will be able to buy Christmas cards, order winter salad boxes and Christmas wreaths made by our gardeners.

'There will be some great bargains to be had and all the money raised will go towards the new build.'

This is how your money could help…..
£30 could buy 100 bricks for our new building
£50 could buy a kitchen unit
£75 could buy a seat for the orangery
£150 could pay for one day with a horticultural therapist
