Thrive returns to Chelsea in 2012

03/02/2012

Excitement is building for Chelsea
Flower Show 2012 and Thrive
is once again delighted

The Alitex Glasshouse in Battersea Herb Garden

to be part of it!
The last time we were at this prestigious show was in 2010 when The Unexpected Gardener (now at our Trunkwell Gardens HQ) was best urban garden and won a Gold medal.
Gardeners at our Battersea project are gearing up to grow the best quality plants in order to bring the Alitex greenhouse to life. Many of you will know that we have a stunning Alitex greenhouse in our Herb Garden in Battersea Park.
At Chelsea Alitex will be showcasing a mono-pitch lean-to set in a flourishing vegetable garden. The stand will be on MA09 and will have a lot of the plants and herbs grown and nurtured by Thrive inside the greenhouse.
Nelly Hall from Alitex said: "We are really pleased to be working with such a dynamic charity and feel real synergy in our aims for a beautiful, well balanced, thoughtful show stand.
"From little acorns, oak trees grow and from the seedling of a creative idea, Alitex and Thrive are hoping the stand will look wonderful."
The Alitex greenhouse based in Battersea Park will increasingly become the home to all the plants being looked after by Thrive.
Sue Stuart said: "We are delighted that Alitex have put their faith in us to help them fill their greenhouse with wonderful plants that our gardeners have grown from seed.
"Being at Chelsea again is a huge boost for the gardeners and really gives them something to strive for. Not everyone can say they’ve grown plants for such a prestigious show!
"It also presents the charity with another wonderful opportunity to raise the profile of Thrive and tell even more people about how Social and Therapeutic Horticulture can change the lives of people with disabilities."
Chelsea attracts around 157,000 visitors each year, enjoying what has become the most prestigious annual gardening showcase in the UK and an event that is recognised by both professional and amateur gardeners from around the globe.
It’s so difficult in February to imagine colourful plantings, and yet it is only 15 weeks away!
