Thrive is looking forward to being able to help even more disabled people harness the benefits of gardening in 2011.
There are many ways of doing this but we hope that a new building at our main garden in Battersea Park will go some way towards providing all those who come to Thrive with a better facilities.
Our portable buildings at the main Battersea Garden Project have become old and dilapidated so we will be replacing them with new purpose-built facilities and will re-design the garden. This will provide the space and modern facilities to help even more people.
Thrive is also going to create four gardens at our HQ in Beech Hill. The 'garden gallery’ will feature a Hearts and Minds garden, for people recovering from a stroke or heart attack; Just for Fun garden, for 14-19-year-old children with special educational needs; Out of Sight garden, for people with sight loss and The Journey garden, an uplifting garden for people recovering from a mental illness, particularly depression.
We are also going to repeat our successful Plant A Difference campaign launched in 2010 where plant swaps raise funds needed to buy boxes of herbs, perennials or vegetables to send direct to the homes of disabled people across the UK.
