Increased Flexibility Project Update

23/06/2006

Staff and clients at Thrive’s Trunkwell Garden Project recently celebrated the achievements of a group of nine young students who completed their NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture.

Linzi Gladwell who organised a barbecue for the teenagers on their last day, said: ‘It was a lovely day and it was especially nice to involve all the Trunkwell staff and the other clients at the project who couldn’t resist the opportunity of a burger or two!’

At least three of the students are going on to Berkshire College of Agriculture to do either an NVQ level 2 and to further their Horticultural knowledge. Two students have got summer work for a landscaping company and one is working part time in a garden centre. All of the students expressed how valuable the course was to them and how they would carry on gardening whether it was their chosen career path or not!

Fridays will be a quieter place at THIRVE for now, until a new group of IFP students start in September!

They will all be missed but we wish them all the very best of luck!
