Excellent visitor numbers at Open Squares Weekend in Battersea

10/06/2008

The Thrive Battersea Garden Project opened their Herb Garden to visitors again this year during Open Squares Weekend on 7 & 8 June.

More than 500 visitors came to see the newly planted garden and admired the brand new Alitex glasshouse. The Mayor of Wandsworth and local MP Martin Linton joined Thrive supporters and everyone enjoyed the glorious weather.

QVC (the home shopping channel), who are supporters of Thrive, kindly gave us the plants from their show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The lovely and varied selections of plants were sold to Thrive’s visitors over the weekend. Sarah Price, who designed QVC’s garden at Chelsea with Patrick Clark, came along to lend a helping hand.

We are delighted to report that the event raised just under £1,000 for Thrive, so thank you to everyone including QVC, Sarah Price, and our super team of volunteers.

The recently completed renovation and building work in the Herb Garden is just the start of our ambitious plan to redevelop our home in Battersea Park.
