Thrive is a national charity whose mission is to research, educate and promote the use and advantages of gardening for people with a disability.

Garden Memories – gardening at home for people with dementia

The Garden Memories project aims to help those living with memory problems and dementia, and their carers, within the Berkshire West PCT area to continue gardening together at home.

One to one sessions are arranged in people’s homes with one of Thrive’s horticultural therapists. The sessions are tailored to suit each individual client, taking into account their specific interests and requirements. The service is fully funded by Berkshire West PCT and is free of charge to the clients.

Taster sessions can be arranged with relevant groups within the Garden Memories area to promote the project and explain what it can offer to the individual and carer.

An information booklet including suggestions for gardening activities throughout the year is available.

For more information about the project, contact Vicki Parker-Scott, Project Co-ordinator, on 0118 988 4844 or e-mail Vicki.Parker-Scott@thrive.org.uk .
