Thrive is a national charity whose mission is to research, educate and promote the use and advantages of gardening for people with a disability.

Garden Gallery progress blog

Work has been completed on a new garden designed specifically for people who have had a stroke or heart attack. See how our old walled fruit garden is being transformed into a 'gallery of gardens'.

The Hearts and Minds Garden is now complete. See how we did it here.

The Hearts and Minds garden forms part of our new 'gallery of gardens’ for people with disabilities currently being built at our headquarters near Reading in Berkshire.

We are now working on The Journey garden, an uplifting garden for people with mental ill health, including dementia.

Thrive is so pleased to be working closely with Marshalls, the UK’s leading hard landscaping manufacturer which has chosen us as its charity of the year. Marshalls has also supplied all of the hard landscaping products for the new gardens, which is just fantastic.

Thrive Chief Executive Nicci Carruthers, said: "In these challenging financial times Thrive remains extremely grateful to individuals and companies like Marshalls who choose to donate to our charity, which means we can directly help more disabled people in the UK harness the therapeutic benefits of gardening."

Neil Davidson, Marshalls CSR Manager, said: "Marshalls is proud to be supporting the tremendous work that Thrive is undertaking to highlight the important physical and emotional benefits of gardening. We are delighted to be supplying products to the new Hearts and Minds garden and hope to make a real difference to peoples’ lives through this worthwhile charity."

Thrive will provide regular updates on the progress being made, in the meantime, if you would like to buy a plant for the garden, just get in touch on 0118 988 5688. If you would like to donate towards the work of the other three gardens, again please get in touch on the same number as we are continuing to raise funds for these. Thank you.
