Frances comes to Thrive to help with her depression, stress and anxiety. She also has obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) which is an anxiety related condition. This makes it difficult for Frances to leave her flat, to socialise and work with other people.
Frances wants to improve her gardening expertise and as well as attending the Thrive Battersea Garden Project, we have secured her a place on a training programme. This has given Frances the extra motivation that she needs to beat her illness and get out of her flat. She sometimes misses her sessions at Thrive because she can’t leave her home.
Frances comments: “When I am at Thrive, the vicious circle of anxiety and negative thoughts disappears…it makes a real difference.”
Going to the training programme and coming to Thrive have meant that Frances has spent more time with other gardeners. She is starting to feel more sociable and comfortable with other people’s company. She has even started to ask other people to work with her – a big step forward.
