Former soldier and army medic Rory Mackenzie has joined Thrive as a trustee. Thirty-year-old Rory from Surrey is particularly looking forward to supporting our new project working with disabled ex-military personnel which is due to launch later in the year.

Three gardeners helped by Thrive have been recognised in the annual Gardening Against the Odds national awards organised by the Conservation Foundation and the Sunday Telegraph in memory of gardening writer and author Elspeth Thompson.

Last month the Big Lottery Fund added £40 million to its well-being programme saying it was crucial to help people overcome the cost barrier to looking after their health. This is great news; Thrive has benefitted from the Big Lottery Fund many times in the past, but it remains tough getting those much-needed funds in.
