Blind Gardener of the Year 2010

Blind Gardener of the Year 'Champion of Champions’

Nicola Carruthers presents 2009 winner with prize
For the past few years we have run our Blind Gardener of the Year competition in partnership with RNIB, funded by the Big Lottery. The competition is a celebration of the skills of gardeners who have sight loss. In the four years of running the competition we have attracted some of the nation’s most talented gardeners.

Since 2010 is the final year of funding by the Big Lottery we have invited all our past winners to enter a 'Champion of Champions’ competition. Our short listed finalists will be visited and interviewed in their gardens by Mani Djazmi from BBC Radio 4 'In Touch’; the interviews will be included in the final judging at the end of August 2010.

The winner will be announced in September 2010 and will be presented with their prize at the annual Flower Show to be held at Thrive’s Battersea Garden Project, London, in October 2010.

The competition is run by the National Blind Gardeners' Club, a partnership project between Thrive and the Royal National Institute of the Blind People (RNIB).
